About Creative Europe Desk NL

About Creative Europe Desk NL

DutchCulture|Creative Europe Desk NL is the service and information hub for the Creative Europe programme in The Netherlands.

About Creative Europe

Creative Europe (2021-2027) is the seven-year support programme of the European Commission for the cultural, creative and audiovisual sectors, directly succeeding the previous Creative Europe period (2014-2020). The programme consists of two sub-programmes: Culture and MEDIA. Additionally, it has several schemes for cross-sectoral projects. It also entails the projects Cultural Capital of Europe, the European Heritage Label, as well as several of the European Union's cultural prizes and awards. With a budget of 2.4 billion euros for the seven-year period, the programme will provide significant support for the cultural, creative and audiovisual sectors again: more competitive, green, digital and inclusive than ever before!

What's new?

  • Stronger emphasis on transnational creation, collaboration and promotion of European works;
  • More support for specific sectors such as architecture, literatuur, music and heritage (through higher co-financing percentages on the part of the EU);
  • Dedication actions in support of European news media and media literacy;
  • All financed activities and projects are required to respect gender equality and the environmental & sustainability goals of the European Union.

Read Creative Europe's programme in full on the European Commission's website.

About Creative Europe Desk

The Creative Europe Desk advises about the many different subsidies and calls within the Creative Europe programme, and offers support and guidance in the process of applying for these funds. The Creative Europe Desk nurtures direct lines of contact with the central executive body of the Creative Europe programme in Brussels, as well as with our colleague Creative Europe Desks in other participating countries.

In the Netherlands, the Creative Europe Desk is part of DutchCulture, the dedicated organisation for international cultural exchange and collaboration.

Feel free to contact Creative Europe Desk NL for:

  • information about the rules, procedures and deadlines of the various subsidies and funds for the cultural, creative and audiovisual sectors;
  • advice and guidance in the process of applying for Creative Europe funding;
  • assistance and/or mediation in the search for specific information and/or collaboration partners from other European countries;
  • information about other European funding and additional financing.

The Creative Europe Desk NL is more than just an information desk. The advisors continuously collect input from the field to keep the representatives of the European Commission, as well as the Dutch ministry for Culture, informed about the state, the challenges and the needs of the Dutch audiovisual, cultural and creative industries.

Additionally, the Desk regularly organises or participates in events that may benefit you as a cultural professional. Via our monthly newsletters and social media, we keep you updated on a.o. calls and deadlines, the European audiovisual and cultural policies, ongoing activities, and other news regarding the Creative Europe programme.

Stay up to date!

To be kept informed, you can sign up for our newsletter(s), usually sent monthly, throughout the year. Additionally, you can follow us on Facebook, LinkedIn and Instagram.

About the sub-programme MEDIA

The sub-programme MEDIA is an initiative of the European Commission to support and strengthen the competitive and viable position of the European film, television and new media industries.

  • Read more here (in Dutch) about the MEDIA programme;
  • Explore here our overview of open/closed funding calls (with a filter per sub-programme);
  • Read more here (in Dutch) about some previous Netherlands-based beneficiaries who received funding under the Creative Europe MEDIA umbrella.

Creative Europe MEDIA supports trainings and workshops aimed at enhancing the talents and skills of professionals in the AV sector. Creative Europe has a newly-minted website that provides a useful overview of all MEDIA-supported training schemes. You can find this right here.

These trainings and workshops are meant to provide better chances and opportunities to professionals across the entire breadth of the AV sector. It is possible to apply for financial support to attend/follow these MEDIA-supported trainings and study programmes, either with the Netherlands Film Fund or, in some cases, the Van den Ende Foundation. Additionally, the training schemes themselves often have grants and discounted fees at their disposal; you can contact these programmes directly in order to find out more.
