Indonesia: third edition of Capacity Building Training for Museum Professionals in Indonesia
Exhibition narratives and design
From 1 to 5 April 2019, a training for Indonesian museum professionals took place in Malang, East Java (Indonesia), titled 'Developing Meaningful Museum and Heritage Experiences based on Storytelling'. The focus of this third (in a series of 6) training was thus on exhibition narratives and design. Two Dutch resource persons and a number of Indonesian resource persons gave lectures and shared their experiences on the topic.
Sharing experiences
Thirty participants from various museums in Indonesia enthusiastically joined in the many discussions and were very creative in carrying out the assignment to develop a narrative exhibition storyline within a given museum space, using a selection of objects, and taking a specific target group into consideration. The participants learnt from the resource persons and also shared a lot of information and experiences among themselves, and will continue to do so after the training has finished.
Long-term collaborative training programme
This training was part of the programme 'Capacity Building for Museum Professionals in Indonesia', a 3-year collaboration between the Netherlands Embassy in Jakarta, the Dutch Cultural Heritage Agency of the Netherlands, the Amsterdamse Hogeschool voor de Kunsten (Reinwardt Academy) and the Indonesian Ministry of Education and Culture.
